O HAPPY DAY!!!

The heat was actually bearable here on Saturday so we loaded up and went to the park!We even had it ALL to ourselves! So cool. Usually they don't get to play on the "big kid" toys bc the bigger kids run way too fast and will take a little kid out in a second. We got lucky Saturday morning though and the girls had a ball running around like wild banches. Jonathon had to work but he came and met us when he got off and surprised us :-) This day was a much needed reprieve from the hustle and bustle as of late. We need more days like this one. It was perfect.

Singing School

Singing School. Singing School? Yes. That's what I said. It's not actually singing school, its church camp and you go there and its awesomely awesome and you learn how to read shape notes and you learn how to keep time to music and you learn the difference between a bass clef and a treble clef and you do the UGA BUGA and you do Kangaroo Court and if you're really lucky you make friends that will last lifetimes. These friends will become your family and you will go back there when you're 30 years old and let your children soak up some of the wonderful. That's what we did a few weeks ago. I grew up on these church grounds in the obscure little town of Alpine. I learned a lot there. A lot about love, a lot about life, a lot about friends and a lot about music. I can't remember a summer that wasn't spent looking forward to Singing School. I remember the summer I got to take my brand spanking new NKOTB sleeping bag and pillow case and I thought I was going to be soooooo cool (for those of you not schooled in all things cool, that's New Kids On The Block). I remember a few summers later being old enough to sneak out of the camper or church house to "hang out" with boys. I saw Cujo at Singing School on Movie Night when I was around 12 or 13 and didn't sleep for days. I think that might just be the root of my fear and dislike for all big dogs except my own. Total dork that I am there is a song or movie or SOMETHING that reminds of everything...In the movie Stand By Me at the end the "writer" says "I never had any friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anybody?” And you know what? He was right. There is something about childhood friends that sticks with you way down deep and becomes a part of who you are. I like that. I like that I have people in my life that have known me my entire life. I like looking back in time and the memories briging a smile to my face and warming my heart. That's a pretty cool feeling. I hope Georgia has friends like that. I'm pretty sure she is in the process of making them right now. If I had to wish one thing for her...whether it was smarts, beauty, wealth, anything...it would be that she have good solid friendships and that she make great childhood memories. They are priceless.

Highs and Lows

On the ACTUAL REAL DEAL 4th of July we decided to try to redeem our Saturday night firework fiasco. We started out by taking G for a swim...here is a play by play of seriously what seemed like the LONGEST day ever.

All sunscreened up and ready to roll. Only she looks like she is high. Seriously. When she gets sick its all in her eyes. I kept asking her if she felt bad which the response was always, "No mama."

Less than fifteen minutes later this was the scene. Poor baby. I have never seen her turn her back on water :-( We packed up and went home for a nap.

After a VERY LONG nap she wanted to play so we filled up the kiddie pool. She lasted less than five minutes. She crashed out again.

After nap number two she REALLY wanted to go to Target with me. So she took a bath and was ready to go! You can tell she was feeling better. Her eyes are perky :-) I think she was afraid she was going to miss out on a toy.

After a successful trip to Target she is playing with her new toy...a MICROWAVE!

Pretty girl...even though she is moving so fast the pic is blurry.

Riding her "bicycle" before we headed out for the fireworks! She was EXCITED!

Once we got to there...it started off well...

Then she got antsy and impatient...notice the less than thrilled look.

Then she wanted back in the car with Zane.

Next, she kicked him off his OWN blanket...

Where she then promptly crashed out again and fell asleep. Zane, Jonathon, and I enjoyed the fireworks then we headed home for some much needed rest. Whew! What a day!

*Monday she felt a thousand times better! Dr. Mom(that would be me) diagnosed her and deemed the illness a combination of allergies and tiredness that were cured with Zyrtec and sleep :-) Yay for a happy and healthy Georgia!

Sparklers To The Rescue!!!

So very proud of her sparklers her Daddy got for her...

Taking inventory.

C Bear is in the midst of "Potty Training Boot Camp" and we didn't want her to miss out on the 4th of July Fun so we took her some sparklers too!

She really liked them :-)

EXCITED!!!

Watching Daddy do some really cool fountain fireworks. Thanks Daddy!

Self Portrait. :-)

*On Saturday we loaded up to go see Lights on The Lake and the second we got in the car it started POURING! We did get to see a few. From the car. Through the trees. Not exactly what we were hoping for...but hey you do what you gotta do. To redeem ourselves from being the worst parents ever and falling short on our big fireworks promise, we actually did sparklers for about an hour when we got home and I'm pretty sure she thought they were the coolest thing she had ever seen in her short life. Whew. Problem solved
