Thank God For Kids

You know that cheese ball-y song by Alabama/Kenny Chesney entitled Thank God For Kids? Well it says..."we all would live in a quiet house, without Big Bird or Mickey Mouse, and kool-aid on the couch...Thank God For Kids"? Well you can bet your a** that right up until the moment I had a child I thought it was the lamest song EVER. But seeing her this Christmas, WOW! Last year she was so little, it didnt register, but this year seeing her little face light up and hearing her say "OH BOY MAMA!" when she was excited was worth its own weight in gold. AMAZING and dare I say life changing. I cannot wait for the many more we have to look forward to!

Twas The Night Before Christmas

After celebrating with Jonathon's family we came back home (in the rain) to open presents with Mom and Chris! Then it was bathtime and off to bed for little miss priss bc her Daddy and Papi Chris had to put together her first present from Santa Claus! This was something Jonathon said he had looked forward to all of his life...staying up all night putting presents together for his child on Christmas Eve. Im pretty sure that went out the window about three hours into the project. He swore every Christmas from now on we would pay someone to do it for us. HA! They started as soon as G went to bed about 8:30 and didnt finish until about 1:30 a.m.! Mom and I watched Christmas Vacation while they worked and when it was over I finally gave it up and went to bed. All the fun and fellowship was wearing me out! Apparently they got a small break about midnight in the form of snow and got to see a little Christmas magic. Georgey Poo and I missed it as we were both fast asleep awaiting the arrival of Santa Claus. Georgia had a big surprise waiting for her in the morning...

RAIN RAIN GO AWAY. COME AGAIN ANOTHER DAY. Georgia busted out an oldie but a goodie and sang it repeatedly during the two days it rained over the holiday. Priceless.

Four Christmases

Are you guys sick of our Christmas pictures yet?! We have LOTS of family and we have LOTS of tradition! One of our traditions is that we always spend Christmas Eve with Jonathon's family and this one was no different. This year however, it was raining cats and dogs! This weeks rain totals pushed us into the wettest week in our states history EVER. We all loaded and unloaded presents in the downpour! Jonathon's sister, Elizabeth cooked dinner and we had our belly's full and hearts content. Georgia hit pay dirt again and came home with a whole car full of new toys. Her nana and Papa Ed spoil her rotten! I swear we have to start thinking about building a new home, we seriously do not have room for all of Georgia's stuff. Either that...or she is going to have to move out...either way something has to shake :-). Its back to work for me this morning but I am really looking forward to the New Year. I hope all of you get the whole week off!

Bah Humbug

My dad is the biggest Scrooge EV-AH! He acts all BAH HUMBUG but I know underneath that "rough and tough" exterior is a big old softie who loves all things christmas-y. I mean how could I "the one who loves Christmas more than anything" be his child? IMPOSSIBLE I say. But of course, being the good daughter that I am, I pretend to believe him that he doesnt like the holidays and he indulges me in the facade. AHHHHH the joys of family. Any who, I digress. We enjoyed seeing him and Georgia loved helping her Papaw open his presents. However, when he opened his new lariat rope she just couldn't believe that was all that was in the box and kept looking to see where the "real" present was. She looked at me as if to say, "A rope? Are you freaking kidding me?" Ever the optimist, my beautiful girl :-). Dad gave her a mailbox so she can mail him letters and she absolutely LOVES it. I'm glad she likes her Papaw so much and I swear the way she says it could make your heart melt into a million pieces. Even old Scrooge himself would swoon. Merry Christmas Y'all...even though its over :-)

Christmas Comes But Once A Year

Ive probably blogged this before but I feel the need to blog it again and its my blog so you have to listen (or read or whatever). So here goes... My granny passed away when I was almost 4 months pregnant with G. She was due mid January and Christmas 2007 was to be our first Christmas without Gran. Mom and Chris drove in on the 20th of December for the holidays and then they were to return when I was induced to have G. I had high blood pressure so was going to be induced on the 28th which was about 2.5 weeks early. Well, the next morning, the 21st,I went into labor. We were supposed to have Christmas that day in Amity with the fam...but bc of the little stinkers early arrival we cancelled Christmas! Now I realize it was a blessing she came early bc it was a distraction from not having Granny there and without her it just wouldn't feel quite the same. I cant imagine Christmas without a trip to my Grans house. OK, I am rambling...but point Aunt Greta and Uncle Tony kept Grans house so the last two years we have been lucky enough to have Christmas there which makes me VERY happy. It makes me sooooooo happy that Georgia gets to celebrate there the same way I did for 30 years! We made the trek on Sunday to Amity and got to eat our traditional Christmas dinner and I got to see my wonderful family. I know my Granny was so happy we were all together! Merry Christmas Eve everyone, I hope you got to be just where your soul needed to be. I know I did.

Silent Night

As most of you know, my mom and Chris don't live here. They live 8 hours away. BOO HOO. We are so lucky that we get to see them as often as we do and we are equally thankful that we get to spend almost every holiday and birthday with them as well. Chris somehow didn't get in these pics but don't worry they are here for eight days, Ill get one :-)! We went to church on Sunday morning and it was so great having everyone there for the Christmas service. I love Christmas. I'm sure I am one of the eight million people out there that make this statement and proclaim it as THEIR favorite holiday. But OH I MEAN IT! I have Christmas in my heart. Georgia being a Christmas baby just solidifies this fact and I think she just might be on track to be a Crazy fanatic too. She can spot baby Jesus from a mile away in a manger in any ones lawn and my oh my she loves snowmen, Santa, elves, and all things Christmas. She can sing Jingle Bells and I'm pretty sure Little Drummer Boy is on repeat in her head right now. HA! We have a tree that has been added to over the years that we have been married with ornaments that fit our moods or just something we see that we think suits eachother. Our tree also has lots of ornaments our friends have given us and Georgia is getting in on the action this year. I think at last count she has six new ornaments just this year along! She is building holiday memories and she doesn't even know it! Man, I love this stuff. This is the good stuff.

This child is so loved it is amazing. We had a "small" birthday party this weekend for her and she was showered with gifts and lots of good lovin'. Her friends, family, and aunties came over and we partied our socks off. She partied her dress off! Literally. By the end of the party she had her new princess pajamas on. I still cannot believe I have a two year old. Enjoy my crazed picture taking on this wild day! It looked like Abby Cadabby threw up in our house and her stack of presents was bigger than she is! We are still pigging out on cake from Mickeys and it is soooooo good. My lips like it but my hips do not. HA! This was a great day. I hope she has many more fabulous birthdays just like this one!
